*********RECENTLY THE GATES HAVE BEEN MOVED BACKWARDS TO MAKE ACCESS EASIER, NOW TURN LEFT IN FRONT OF THE GATES AND CROSS OVER THE BRIDGE*****
If you arrive from the South ( Christchurch, Kaikoura, Blenheim, Koromiko direction ) you will be on State Highway 1 (SH1) after you enter Picton, take the 5th road right ( Canterbury Road ) and then the third road right ( Garden Terrace ) go under the railway viaduct and keep following the track, up to the gates and left over the bridge ( four tons maximum ) then follow the drive along the 2 bar fence up to the house.
If you arrive from the North West ( Nelson, Pelorus, Havelock direction ) you will be on the Queen Charlotte Drive after you enter Picton, turn right at the roundabout ( Kent Street ) until you are at Canterbury Road, turn left into Canterbury Road and then turn the second road right ( into Garden Terrace ) go under the railway viaduct and keep following the track, up to the gates and left over the bridge ( four tons maximum ) then follow the drive along the 2 bar fence up to the house.
If you arrive from the East ( Port Underwood Road ,Waikawa direction ) you will be on the Waikawa Road, after you enter Picton, keep going straight ( Waikawa Road) , continue straight over the round about, then turn left into Auckland Street ( the Main Road ) cross the railway line and turn the second road left into Devon Street, ( signposted ESSONS Valley WALKWAYS ) continue going straight, the road will become Garden Terrace after you cross Canterbury Road ,keep going, go under the railway viaduct and keep following the track, up to the gates and left over the bridge ( four tons maximum ) then follow the drive along the 2 bar fence up to the house.
If you arrive from the Ferry by motor vehicle ( Blue Bridge or Inter Islander ) you will be on Kent Street, keep going straight ( Kent Street ) until you are at Canterbury Road, then turn left into Canterbury Road and then turn the second road right ( into Garden Terrace ) go under the railway viaduct and keep following the track, up to the gates and left over the bridge ( four tons maximum ) then follow the drive along the 2 bar fence up to the house.
If you arrive by plane from Picton Airport ( at Koromiko ),by boat on the Inter Islander Ferry, Blue Bridge Ferry, Waikawa Marina, Picton Harbour or arrive by Tranz Coastal train at the train station, we are happy to pick you up by car and drop you off again after your stay at Esson Valley. Just give us a call when you have arrived, and we will pick you up. Please tell us at time of booking if you require this service.
If you arrive by helicopter than just land in our front paddock, you can also drop in by parachute.
